What We Do For Things We Love

My six picture story I did for my last photo project of the quarter was, What We Do For Things We Love. I decided to shoot the local tattoo parlor, Decorative Injections, on Court St. I got the idea from my mom and decided to do it when Ashley decided to get her ears pierced there. While we were talking to the artists there, they told us about the recent Backdrop Magazine article (student run mag. on campus) on the place and one of the artist. They were livid because the author had pumped it up and published false information about all the employees and how they were now losing business for what she had written. Soooo I decided this would be an awesome way to show how the guys really are; kind, friendly and down to earth. The title was taken from the girl getting her Ohio State tattoo, she said it when I asked why she decided to get a tattoo. I told her she was nuts and she responded, "What we do for things we love." Here is one shot from my final six..

Finals are OVER.

Woo! Finals were officially over for me at 11 this morning. Peace out winter quarter hellllooo Spring Break '09, destination... Waterville, Ohio :) But that means when I return to beautiful Athens, it will be the last quarter of the year (crazy) and spring quarter which I hear is out. of. control. fun. I am so stoked for it. There are fests like every weekend in May; that are named after the street they are on, i.e Palmer Fest; concerts and just warm weather to go outside and play in! I love campus when everyone is outside just soaking up the sun. Everyone is in a good mood and relaxed, and campus looks pretty when everything is in bloom. So I think tonight I'll just sit back, watch a movie and enjoy not having to worry about a thing.

Beautiful Light

One of my last photo assignments for the quarter was finding beautiful light. Over the past six months I'm sure Ping and Ash have wanted to smash my camera against the wall so I never ask them to pose for me again. But most of the time the photos turn out pretty cool and I wouldn't have completed them in time if it weren't for them, so thanks girlies. Anyways, for this one Ash and I were on our way to dinner and it was one of the wonderfully warm and sunny days we have been having lately in Athens. The light was, well, beautiful and I really like the final photo I turned in. Also one of the reasons I started a blog was to post my work and get it out there, even though no one reads this haha. But maybe someday they will!

Dear Jack

I had forgotten how much I adore Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin. Last week my iPod was on shuffle and a SC song came up. I googled Andrew McMahon, vocalist/songwriter/pianist of both, to see if he had any new songs and came across a preview of a documentary being made about his life and fight against leukemia. He was diagnosed in 2005 when he was just 22 years old. After months of treatment he found a bone marrow match in his sister, Katie, and received a transplant. The transplant happened the same day his debut album under Jack's Mannequin, Everything In Transit, was released. (talk about ironic)
The trailer looks amazing, plus I think he is an incredibly talented musician and inspiring person. So I thought I'd share the video with you.. I hope you find it as compelling as I do.  Here's the link, the video won't upload... Dear Jack. Also check out Andrew's non-profit charitable organization he founded, the Dear Jack Foundation.

Thirsty Thursday

It's that time of year again... McDonald's famous Shamrock Shakes are bacckk! Tonight's adventure was wandering down Richland Ave to Micky D's for a guilty pleasure. But I'm wondering why these are only available once a year in celebration of St. Patrick's Day? I mean just because it's green doesn't make it Irish. They are deliciously minty and well ya know what I really don't care anymore because I'm lovin' it too much right now. Soo go and get your shake before it's too late!

3AM and I wanna go to bed..

Yay! First blog :) I came across this site while looking at my old YoungLife leader's Facebook page and thought it would be a fun thing to do. It is currently 3 o'clock in the morning and I have a 10AM class, but can't sleep. Both roomies are out and I have nothing better to do so I made a blog.
I'm not sure who will end up reading this or how often I'll update it, but I'm gonna try to do it as often as possible.. So welcome to my life, yet another creepy way to stalk people on the internet. Enjoyyy.
